Welcome to Velo Events and the home of 88 Roubaix in the picturesque Tweed ranges.
We soft launched in 2016 with the inagural 88 Roubaix mixing up some of the best gravel plus scenic backroads within easy reach of Murwillumbah in the Tweed Valley. While it went off smoothly we felt the need to imporove on the course and the details.
So for 2017 we have sorted out a new course but still are working on the details - so we are just going to do a few social rides instead. These will be unsanctioned, un insured and untimed. But we will have GPS logs, trail maps and a sign on and off to ensure everyone is safe.
The first is the Blur Ride from Tyalgum March 25. Its designed to Blur the destinction of what is possible between a cyclocross bike and MTB. A mix of gravel and sealed (50/50) and if it dosen't challenge your skill set it will still challenge you vision... If your a little unsure - bring the MTB.
In October we are test riding the new course for the Roubaix 88. Its actually an even 88 km with some new gravel and still the same hills that tested the resolve last year. Riders who want a shorter day out can do the first 32km loop if they don'y want the climbs. Start and finish will be in the scenic Burringbar village with coffee on the door step.
Interested in joining us ? Join our email list and we shall send you through the details.
The final ride of the year in November, if anyone survives the Roubaix 88 and still wants more, this will be The Monkey Butt Revenge. Looking like 180km containing 4850m climbing (and descending) with 110km of gravel - So far its all rideable and will be starting in Mullumbimby.
We hope you can join us.
